Illegal extraction of sand from Pian river

The upazila of the upazila, bordering Sylhet, has illegal sand extraction from the Pitan river in the upazila of the village of Companyganj. A dominant group has recently started extracting sand in a sleight of sand.
Last Sunday, Raich Ali, son of Abdur Rahim, a resident of Shimultala Ashrayan Project of the upazila, filed a separate complaint with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and the OC of the police station. In the complaint, he mentioned that 30 to 40 lister machines were given from the river Yunita to the front of the government primary school in Buridahar area. Sand is being extracted, which has threatened to take measures by accepting the poison of the village, roads, Eidgahs, cemeteries and shelter projects along the river.
Local residents said that although a part of the Pitan river is not leased, the influential circles have been extracting sand from morning to evening. Both sides of the river, especially Shimultala Guchchagram and Buzidahar village, are being lifted in a stack in the form of sand.
In this regard, upazila executive officer Sunjit Kumar Chand told Samakal that a case has been filed against the illegal sand miners recently, in view of this, the operation was conducted last Monday. The work of collecting the names of the zonciators is underway and another case is under process.
