The deceased is a third year student of public administration department of Bulbul University. His home is in Narsingdi district. He lived in room 218 of Shahparan Hall of the university. Bulbul's classmates think that Bulbul went for a walk in the hills in the afternoon. He was stabbed by robbers.
On hearing the news of Bulbul's death, ordinary students rushed to the hospital. Later, around 10:30 pm, a group of students marched from the university's roundabout and took a position in front of the main gate. At this time, the students raised slogans like 'Why did my brother die, the administration wants an answer', 'Our demand, safe Shabi Prabi'. After standing in front of the main gate for an hour, the students again came to the roundabout and started shouting slogans. The program of the students was going on till 11:25 pm.
