Expatriate's wife and son seriously injured in terrorist attack in Lakshmipur

Mariyam Begum, the expatriate's wife, and Sadia Akhter, a schoolgirl, were hacked to death by terrorists after entering the house in Lakshmipur. Maryam's right wrist, four fingers of her left hand were severed and her head was bloody. Sadia suffered bloody injuries on her head and neck from the sharp weapon. The incident took place in Balaishpur village of Bashikpur Union of Sadar Upazila at around 9 pm on Saturday (October 3).

The police have detained two people for questioning in this incident. Lakshmipur District Superintendent of Police Dr. AHM Kamruzzaman visited the spot. However, the police could not say for sure who caused the incident.

Meanwhile, the injured mother and daughter were rescued and taken to Sadar Hospital in Lakshmipur and given first aid. Later they were sent to Dhaka for better treatment.

According to locals and police, Nabi Ulya of Balaishpur village Dewan Bari is in Saudi. His wife Mariam lives at home with their school-going daughter Sadia. Sadia is a third class student of a local school.

At the time of the incident, the terrorists entered the house and attacked the mother and daughter. In this, the mother's right wrist and four fingers of the left hand were severed and the head was severely bleeding. The girl suffered bloody injuries on her head and neck from the sharp weapon. At one point, people nearby heard their screams and brought them to the hospital with serious injuries.

Local Amanat Ulya said that after entering the house, the mother and daughter were seen lying on the ground in a bloody state. Meanwhile, Maryam fell unconscious because Zahid of the house next door cut them off. Later they were rescued and brought to the hospital.

Asif Mahmud, the doctor on duty at Sadar Hospital, said that the mother and daughter were brought to the hospital in bloody condition. They suffer severe injuries in various parts of the body including amputation. They have been sent to Dhaka for better treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraganj Police Station Jasim Uddin said that it is not known who or what caused the incident. However, two have been detained for questioning.
