Miniket says nothing will be sold: Cabinet Secretary

Mentioning that there is no variety of rice called Miniket, Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam said that a letter has been given to the mill owners to write the variety of rice on the rice sack. Failure to comply will result in legal action.

He said these things at a discussion meeting on agricultural research and extension of varieties and technology at the field level at the Rice Research Institute in Gazipur on Wednesday (October 5) morning.

The secretary said, nothing can be sold as miniket. From now on, the rice that comes out of the mill will have to write the variety on the bag. We will take action if anyone violates it.

It should be noted that even if there is no rice cultivation in the country called Miniket, the market will benefit from Miniket rice. There are complaints that this popular rice is made in the market, other rice is cut. However, the businessmen have repeatedly rejected such allegations.

The government's Ministry of Agriculture and Food has also stated that there will be no rice called Miniket in the market. Now traders say, Miniket is now a brand, if there is no rice under this name, there will be a negative impact on the market.

A few days ago, in an event of the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar said that there is no such thing as miniket rice in the country. Still traders are marketing rice under the name of miniket. Laws are being made to take action against those who are marketing rice in the name of Miniket.
