A violent robbery in the police station area of Chandraganj

An incident of robbery has taken place in the house of expatriates in Chandraganj police station area of Lakshmipur. It is said that the dacoit members injured two housewives by cutting and beating them. The incident took place in the house of Dakshin Molla of Panchpara village of Chandraganj Union late on Wednesday (July 29) around 3 pm.

According to the victims and locals, a group of 10/12 armed robbers broke the collapsible gate of Abdul Haque's building in Panchpara 2nd Ward Dakshin Molla house at night. At that time, the expatriate's wife Sharmin Akhter (22) was cut and the other expatriate's wife was beaten and injured.

Later, the robbers took the family members hostage at gunpoint and looted 60,000 taka in cash and around 5 lakh taka worth of gold ornaments. Sharmeen Akhtar, wife of expatriate Sohail, who was seriously injured, was admitted to Sadar Hospital. Another housewife was treated locally. Abdul Haque's two sons Abdul Mannan Dubai and Sohail Malaysia.

It should be noted that in the past few months there have been several theft incidents in the Chandraganj Thana area and a robbery incident occurred in North Jaipur Union after last Ramadan Eid.

Jasim Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraganj Police Station informed about taking legal action after visiting the spot on Wednesday.
