A teenage girl has been raped out of two and a half thousand. Although the incident took place on August 30 in Singrati area of the upazila, on Wednesday (September 8) evening, the victim's father filed a written complaint at Araihajar police station.
OC of Araihajar police station Anichur Rahman Molla said that the girl's house is in Chaitankanda village of Bishnandi union of Araihajar upazila. She lives with her garment worker parents in Gauchia area of Rupganj. On the day of the incident, the victim girl went for a walk with one of her friends. A friend of the girlfriend joined them from there. The three of them went out for a walk in the area of Araihajar. Later, a group of young men took the girl to a bush in Singrati area of the upazila after threatening her girlfriend and friend and gang-raped the girl with five-six people.
The OC also said that 9 people were arrested in raids at various places immediately after the complaint was filed. Interrogation of the arrested is going on. In the end, those involved will be prosecuted. The rest will be released.
The arrested are- Billal son of deceased Rahim Molla of Shalikha police station of Magura district, Zahid son of Bachchu Mia of Singrati village of upazila, Nirab son of Wazed Ali of Banti Uttarpara village of upazila, Taijul son of Abul Hashem of Kanthalia village of Ishwardi police station of Mymensingh, Siam son of Idris Ali of Laskardi Purvpara village of upazila, Singrati. Rana, son of Mohibur, Robin, son of Suruj Mia, Khairul, son of Abu Bakr of Alisadi Kandapara village and Rifat, son of Rafiqul of Singrati village.
